In Greek mythology, Actis is the seventh son of the sun god Helius.
His name means a beam of light and he is credited with the ability of being able to foresee - or at least illuminate - the future. The citizens of Rhodes built a statue of him, the Colossus, over the entrance to their harbour which was one of the seven wonders of the world. The Colossus with its high burning light was one of the first aids to navigation.
